SOFTWARE FOR THOSE WHO USING NANOTECHNOLOGY

Nanotechnology research includes a lot of tools that people don't know of. While many of the tools are paid and commercially available tools, there are also those that can be downloaded freely. Being one of the premier scientific fields today, nanotech is also one of the best career options. So here are a few software that nanotechnologists can use!





1. NanoCAD

NanoCAD is a professional grade CAD tool. It has a familiar interface, powerful drafting and design tools, native DWG compatibility, and an open API. And it's totally free to use and share. No catches, no gotchas, and no compromises.

2. General Nanotechnology

General Nanotechnology (GN) has created and is developing hardware and software that provides advanced capabilities in imaging, nano-manipulation, nano-fabrication, nano-spectro-photometry, near field optical probes below the aperture (50nm) limit, and diamond and other nanotools tips and parts.

3. OpenChem Workbench

OpenChem Workbench is an enterprise software suite designed for creating, saving, searching, and exchanging chemical data. It uses existing tools (NIST, Gaussian, CHEMKIN) and its own easy molecule building, mechanism management, group additivity, etc.

4. CavityStuffer

The purpose of the CavityStuffer program is to propose tree-like polymeric molecules, which when synthesised and allowed to fold into their globular structure, will densely fill a given volume, the surface of which was prescribed to atomic detail. The CavityStuffer program generates its proposals by growing polymers blindly, and in a randomised fashion, it chooses sites on the tree for further attachment and elongation.

7. Molecular Visualization Freeware

Here you will find the Protein Explorer and Rasmol, which are two very useful, albeit old, tools for nanotechnology research. There are also other newer options available.

8. DisMol

This is a freeware molecule display applet, which is also open source and makes the source code of the project available publicly.

9. Accelerys

Accelrys a publicly listed company that serves as a provider of scientific innovation lifecycle management software, supports industries and organisations that rely on scientific innovation to differentiate themselves.
